On the word ‘Semite’

So, there was this great flood depicted in many religions and cultures throughout the world. In the Abrahamic Religions (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity), there was a man Named Noah who built an Ark to survive the floods.

Noah had three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Thus the people descending from the three sons were named as such;

Semites (descendants of Shem), Hamites (descendants of Ham), Japhethites (descendants of Japheth).

Shem is also the ancestor of Abraham, and thus Abraham gave way to the three Main Abrahamic religions in the west, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.

Thus, those with the blood of Abraham can be called Semites, and in another way, those who follow the Abrahamic religions could be viewed as cultural or theological Semites.

Side note;

I prefer calling Judaism as Israelites in my personal idiolect, because ‘Islam’ means ‘to submit to god’ and ‘Israel’ means ‘to wrestle with god’. So I personally would rather call ‘Jews’ as ‘Israelis’ but due to a nation being called ‘Israel’ it can get confusing and conflate the understanding between what people contemporarily believe to be people who practice the religion, people with the blood of Shem, and the people of a specific nation. Meh, I digress.

Epilogue

I am only making this point to paint the truth in the word of it’s origins. It seems after World War 2, the Holocaust and it’s atrocities have labeled a specific group of Semites as the Semites, thus negating the labeling of other Semites as Semites. The term ‘antisemitic’ can apply to those against any group of Semites if we’re being technical.

Thus the Arabs of Semite belief or blood and the force against them can also be viewed as Antisemitic.

Yes, these words are very political yet I am not stating my personal politics, I’m merely showing the weave of meaning in language and words as it evolves throughout events and time. Etymology reveals truth and allows one to see what and where and why people come from. Study the word for,
