The Festival of Hands

The Festival of Hands is a new combination of words that I’d like to invite people in on.

It is my way of saying ‘The will of the world’ or ‘The Dao’ in a sense.

The origin of this phrase comes from my etymology of the term ‘manifest’. The prefix ‘mani-‘ is ‘hands’ and ‘fest’ could mean ‘festival’. So to manifest something or to write a manifest takes many hands, allbeit it could be one hand from one author but it was written through time by many hands of the same author.

(in terms of ‘mani-‘ see also Manipulate or Manicure or Maniple).

Arguably nothing exists in a vacuum, so even if one author was to write or do something to make something come true, they stood on the shoulders of giants, on the works before them to help align their vision and sight to see what it is they’re trying to make. So it takes many hands to make things come together.

In nautical terms we use the phrase ‘all hands’ or ‘all hands on deck’ to imply everyone to work together towards their station to achieve a chief aim or goal or ship maneuver.

In another nautical insight, a ship’s manifest is a catalogue or log of their items and personnel. To account for the hands is to account for the person. A ‘handy’ man is a person who uses their hands. To be a ‘handful’ means that tasks are a bit much or would benefit with ‘more hands’ to help out. Often a lot of ‘head’ honchos have a ‘right hand man’ that is capable of being their helper to execute tasks and such. An organization has many ‘hands’ that helps to carry out things.

As mentioned earlier, a Maniple is a cohort or legion of men capable of doing a task, typically used in warfare and war terms. A Maniple consists of about 60 to 120 men.

Back onto the main topic.

I describe the Festival of Hands as a way to say the great flow of the world.

Everyone everywhere is doing something with their efforts and imparting a will to the world.

The world is moving towards a direction based on the push and pull of all these wills combined.

Whether it’s in a war or an election, many people are working both behind the scenes and during the glorious day of combat or election in which people cast their votes via their spears or ballot notes. Shaping the world.

As people are tuned into the programming, propaganda, or frequency of a specific world of belief, when they believe something deeply, it is evident in their habits and their actions. Beliefs, dreams, and wishes manifest in our actions.

These actions cause chain reactions to shape the world into what it is. Whether it’s an initiative for a new park or to protect natural lands from civilization industrializing it.

So this world, this universe, is a cosmic dance of many actors and dancers, and arguably you can pay attention to their hands.

Their slight of hand and efforts pushing forward with their hands shape and mold the clay of the world. They shape and mold the future of the world. To either a brighter one for some, or a brighter one for others.

To shape and build entire empire’s based on hopes and dream, the will of the founding fathers or King. The founder to lay the foundation and build each brick by brick with their hands.

In another sense, the Divine will is also God’s Will. The ‘Deus Vult’ is translated as God’s will and has done many things throughout time, to include the crusades. The strongest will pushes and pulls like a tug of war between all the other wills that fight, like an arm wrestle in the cosmic sense, and the aftermath is what is left to us.

Our reality is shaped by the hands that hold it together and the hands that move it in it’s place.

Epilogue;

What is a manifest to you? What is a manifesto? What is it ‘to manifest’ something?

To make your dreams come true?

And if the world is a world of many dreamers, what is the biggest dream that is being played out? What are the biggest DreamS, with a Capital S, that exist in the world right now?

Who are the ones fighting for and against that dream? Where are their hands?

More importantly, where are yours?

Hands are just one way to look at the world, the Dao has a specific loose grip on the world. The natural flow of things from the accumulation of all flows. So I hope you can see it too.

If not, well, just remember,

Words Mean Things
