Isn’t it odd or peculiar that Trophy’s are symbolically shaped in a Cup? Like a sort of homage to a Holy Grail?
I’m not sure the meaning behind this, but if you think of a Trophy, it either shapes into a ball, for the sport, a human, for the shape of a human, a plaque, for some written certificate, or a Cup, as if a grail of some sorts.
If I were to suppose a question, it would be, was the cup meant for some sort of drink or initiation? Could the Cup be related to the use of drinks of ferment or some sort of rarity mystical juice? Soma or Haoma or some other sacred sacrament?
From my very miniscule research, it appears silver cups originate from ancient Greek origins and has been used as awards for the Olympic games from ancient times.
Perhaps there’s some sort of relation to the Eleusinian mysteries?
Or perhaps some sort of Elysian Eudaimonia?
Perhaps the cups themselves were more functional and not just an ornament?
Perhaps people brought their favorite mug or their trophy cup to drink at parties as a sort of anchoring bragging right as well as status and a conversation starter? Like some sort of noble or fraternal bond?
Like them rafting trips or Frat Houses that have some sort of tradition and culture?
Humans do what humans do, and I think it’s interesting to discover the etymology and origins of our Anthropomorphic beginnings.
Epilogue,
I was just thinking it strange or odd of an oddity that we use Cups as Trophys. Some people drink out of them, perhaps that was it’s original purpose.
Perhaps it symbolizes more?
I don’t really know, but it is one of an infinitude of questions that one may find or ask or learn.
Cups are symbols and writing is merely symbols or runes or pictures of things. So what does the Cup as a symbolic word mean?
