Mainstream and the Dao

Ever heard of something becoming Mainstream? A part of the main culture?

Mainstream music? Or mainstream marketing and product brands?

It’s as if there is this great flow of the world and there’s a particular space for the mainstage of the flow to inhabit or cross.

That’s basically what mainstream is, it’s the flow.

And we do this often with commercialized goods.

For instance, spices and sugar and salt used to be a rarity. They used to provide all sorts of benefits and be fought after.

Nowadays, we have sugar in everything, and it’s hard to even avoid.

Similar to plant medicines as well. Cocaine and Heroine used to herbal plants that people would use for various therapeutic effects and stress relief among other things.

Then we some how commercialized it, through our own scientific alchemy to create some processed strain for mass production and exploitation. All to turn some leaves into gold, like any alchemist.

If you look today at the current use of Marijuana (Ganja) and how the Suits are trying to boil down the essence of the thousands of compounds into THC and CBD products without the synergistic effects of the whole. You’ll see that we Humans are doing the same thing with this plant medicine.

We Humans are always chasing the flow, where ever it goes. The newest fad, the hip sensation, the novelty, it’s a high like a magic dragon that many people chase as if to escape their mundane life or to avoid seeking inner peace and wisdom.

Epilogue,

I’m merely commenting on one aspect of seeing the Dao. If you can see the Way of the World, you can also benefit from it or enjoy the ride. The Winds of Change as they say, likewise the Winds of Magic.

This is, but a small foot note in the flow of time.
