The Word ‘Warlock’

Warlock stems from Were-Logos.

The prefix ‘Were-‘ means ‘to change’, much like a were-beast such as a were-wolf or were-bear. It stems from a lot longer history that goes back to saying ‘denial’ or ‘traitor’, yet for our conventional sense, that history is rather ‘written over’.

The Suffix ‘logos’ relates to words or oaths or promises kept.

A Warlock then is equivalent to an Oath breaker, someone who disavows their promises or changes their words. Sometimes one may consider them to be two faced or more, wearing a façade or mask.

Words are power, and congruency and willpower as well as intent add to the impact or magic of words themselves. When you say a lie, do you feel it? When you speak your truth, do you feel it? That feeling is akin to the congruency and authenticity of your natural self, as well as your subconscious and unconscious minds.

Everyone has different models for the universe, so I won’t bore you with magical talk.

I just wanted to share that the word Warlock stemmed from essentially Oath Breaking.

As a bonus piece,

My brother likes to call liars who are loose and fluffy with their words ‘air benders’. Because all they do is bend air without doing anything. Big talk, no walk sort of thing.

I find it funny and rather charming. So I opt to call people air benders when they’re -well- full of air.

Epilogue,

Just sharing a small bit of etymology with a side of knowledge for the un-gnowing ones.
